Maariyah Mustafa
(that’s me!)
I’m a UX/UI and graphic designer based around NYC, sometimes in Montreal and Toronto.
I like to create enjoyable and meaningful experiences with my work, whether it’s through digital design, printed works, or character animation. I do a bit of everything—there are so many ways to be creative and I love learning new skills that can be utilized in my own work. Not to mention, learning is just plain fun!
There’s not enough empathy in this world, and I aim to change that. By creating positive user experiences, we can understand each other just a bit more. We can make products more accessible and connect people together. And if that wasn’t great enough, we can also make them look real darn cool!
🎮 I love video games. Some of my favorites are Sonic the Hedgehog, Final Fantasy, Divinity, and TEKKEN. I’m also a fan of some tabletops, like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Dungeons & Dragons (I’m not very good at them).
📺 Anime has influenced me a lot. I’ve taken a lot of style inspiration from Ojamajo Doremi, Inazuma Eleven, and Dragon Ball.
🍰 I’m always looking for cozy dessert cafes. Strawberry shortcake is one of my best friends, and peach flavors have taken over my life.
💅 Nail art is a more recent hobby of mine— it’s a fun challenge to decorate a small surface so intricately.
🖨 Printing and merchandise design have been important parts of my development as an artist. I find great joy in being able to hold my own work in my hands as a physical product. Working in print shops has maybe enabled my projects too much.
